New Year’s Eve is prime time for reminiscing and celebrating, and Gianna
Majzler is doing plenty of both as she waits for her guests to arrive. “In
college, I started as a dance major, then switched from costume design to set
design to theater,” she recalls. “Then I was a film major, followed by art
history and applied art and ceramics. When I signed up for puppetry and advanced
puppetry, my mom asked, ‘What’s next, basket weaving?’ But I’d already taken
that the previous semester.” Today, she’s part owner of F.G. & Co., known
for its vintage-inspired paper goods. “Much to my parents’ relief, everything I
learned in college really comes in handy when I’m at work, and even more so when
I throw a party.”
